The New Nigeria Founding Document

Adopted on July 12, 2025, at the Power Shift Leadership Strategy Retreat, Hotel Guidotti, Wuye District, Abuja.

Preamble

We, the emerging leaders and citizens of Nigeria, gathered under the Power Shift 2025 Leadership Strategy Retreat, driven by hope and a shared vision, do hereby present our collective dreams for a New Nigeria. A Nigeria where unity, justice, equality, and human dignity form the bedrock of our national identity. This document represents the voice of young Nigerians committed to transforming our nation into one that works for everyone irrespective of tribe, religion, status, or geography.

Our Vision for a New Nigeria

1. Unity and National Identity
We dream of a Nigeria where every individual is recognized first and foremost as Nigerian, not by tribe, religion, or region. A country where the labels of 'North,' 'South,' 'Christian,' or 'Muslim' fade in favor of a shared national identity grounded in love, peace, and collective purpose. We dream of a Nigeria that celebrates its diversity while fostering oneness. A nation where unity is not just a slogan, but a lived reality. A country where personal biases are buried, and every Nigerian can turn to another with trust, acceptance, and peace.

2. Education as a Right and Equalizer
We dream of a Nigeria where every child, whether rich or poor, rural or urban, has access to free, quality education. A country where education is a right, not a privilege; where the child of the common man sits in the same classroom as the child of the elite, learning from well-trained teachers in safe, conducive environments. We aspire to a nation where portfolios are earned by merit, not by connections, and where quality education is prioritized for national development.

3. Health, Safety, and Human Dignity
We dream of a Nigeria where quality health care is prioritized and accessible for all citizens regardless of income, location, or background. A nation where hospitals are functional and well equipped, lives are valued, and no child dies from preventable causes. We dream of a society where citizens sleep without fear, where safety is guaranteed by a competent and impartial security system. A Nigeria where the sacredness of life is preserved, and dignity is the standard for every human interaction.

4. Justice, Rule of Law, and Accountability
We dream of a Nigeria governed by justice and the rule of law where laws are not selective, and no one is above them. A nation where offenders are punished fairly and victims find justice without delay or bias. We dream of a Nigeria where institutions work, where transparency is the norm, and leaders are held accountable. A country where integrity is restored and corruption is history.

5. Economic Prosperity and Dignity of Labour
We dream of a Nigeria where local production thrives, and domestic goods are respected more than imported ones. A nation where unemployment is tackled through innovation and investment, where skilled labor is celebrated, and every citizen can live with dignity. We dream of a country where her natural and human resources are utilized for the benefit of all, where economic growth is inclusive, and no citizen sleeps on an empty stomach.

6. Youth and Gender Inclusion
We dream of a Nigeria where youth are not just seen but heard, where they take the stage not just as followers, but as leaders of change. A nation where age, gender, tribe, or background is not a barrier to opportunities. We envision to see women and girls thrive, where issues such as rape, child trafficking, and gender-based violence are eradicated. A Nigeria where all individuals are empowered to lead and contribute meaningfully to national development.

7. Global Respect and National Pride
We dream of a Nigeria where the green passport is respected globally, and Nigerians are treated with dignity wherever they go. A country whose global identity is shaped not by corruption but by innovation, excellence, and principled leadership. We envision a Nigeria where young people no longer seek escape but find pride in staying and contributing to the nation's greatness.

8. Inclusivity and Grassroots Participation
We dream of a Nigeria where the voices of the grassroots are heard and represented. A Nigeria where every citizen has the opportunity to participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives. A country that listens, includes, and empowers all.
