Dr. Frank Nweke
Biography
Frank Nweke II is the Chairman of Kunie Foundation, a social action organisation that advocates and fosters the improvement of children and mothers’ lives in urban slums and rural communities.
He is a Nigerian public policy expert, politician, entrepreneur, director at Human Capital Africa and Co-Chair, #FixPolitics Initiative Nigeria. He is a founding member of the School of Policy, Politics, and Governance (SPPG), and a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Lagos Business School. He is highly regarded as an ethical, exemplary, and proven leader with over two decades of demonstrated success in policy design, strategic planning, and implementing development reform agendas in the public, private, and civic sectors. In 2023, Frank pursued his abiding interest in public service as Enugu State’s gubernatorial flagbearer for the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the 2023 elections.
His public service experiences include roles at the sub-national and national levels, most notably serving as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in three different ministries under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration from 2003 to 2007. He was the director-general of the foremost economic think-tank, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group from 2009 to 2014, where his leadership transformed the NESG and restored effective participation of the highest levels of political and private sector leadership.
He is an entrepreneur and investor with interests spanning the Media, Fintech, Petrochemical, Construction, and Social Innovation sectors. He co-founded NzukoLabs, a social enterprise facilitating technology innovation in South East Nigeria.
He is an alumnus of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government where he earned a master’s degree in Public Administration and a certificate in Strategic Management. He is an Edward S. Mason Fellow of Harvard Kennedy School and was the President of the Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Association of Nigeria, for the 2020 to 2022 term. Nweke is an alumnus of the Aspen Institute in Aspen, Colorado and holds an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from Gregory University, Uturu.
He is a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals and the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, an Honorary Fellow, of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and a member, of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
In service to his love for teaching and raising a new generation of public leaders and policymakers in Nigeria, Nweke shares his wealth of knowledge and insights as a consultant to governments, development organisations, and institutions, including appearances as a Guest Lecturer at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
Proudly Igbo, and a friend and leader to all, he speaks Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa, the three major Nigerian languages fluently.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Frank is a passionate supporter of art, music, and fashion and a tireless advocate for shared prosperity and the development of Africa. His ultimate vision is a future where politics is more mainstream and wealth, sustainability, and profit coexist harmoniously.
